Microsoft Loop

What is Microsoft Loop app and how to enable it for your organization

I am excited that Microsoft Loop is now in Public Preview!

Microsoft Loop is really about people who want to easily collaborate on projects no matter where they are or what tools they are using. The ideal way to collaborate on ideas, plans, and creations even when people are not physically there is with Microsoft Loop. It’s a dynamic co-creation process that connects teams, material, and tasks from all our tools and gadgets. It is a brand-new application that blends a strong and adaptable canvas with portable elements that sync and move freely between Microsoft 365 applications. It’s simple to feel overloaded with all the necessary resources, files, documents, and links that your team needs. Microsoft Loop assists you in gathering all of your project’s resources into a single workspace and even starts the search for you. Simply provide the title of your workplace and any additional pertinent keywords, and Microsoft Loop will recommend the most pertinent items to include in your workspace. Create your workspace, add the items you want, and the content will be arranged into pages for easy viewing. We can quickly create new pages using templates and arrange content in blocks or pages in our workspace in a way that works best for you and your team.

Unlock new possibilities with Copilot in Loop

Copilot in Loop is currently in private preview but what is it? Copilot combines Microsoft 365 apps and data with the strength of next-generation AI. We receive AI-powered recommendations from Copilot in Loop to help change the way we collaborate and create. With prompts like development, brainstorming, blueprint, and description, it directs us. Copilot in Loop, like the rest of Microsoft Loop, was designed for collaborative development. We can return to earlier prompts as our coworker’s work, add language to sharpen the output, and alter the generated responses to obtain better and more tailored outcomes. As a Loop component, you can then distribute your work to your team members through Teams, Outlook, Whiteboard, or Word for the web. Copilot in Loop is useful for summarizing important information when we need to understand it quickly. Copilot expedites communication by condensing the information on Loop pages and in documents that are linked in the workspace. To keep everyone in sync, we may amend summaries to include more information or context and distribute them to other people as Loop components. In the next months, Loop will start to push out its summarization features.

In case you are trying to use it, you will receive the following message, so let’s enable it!

How to enable Loop app for our organization

We have to create a security group that will contain all the users in our organization who you want to grant access to the Loop app during Public Preview, otherwise we may provide access to the whole organization. There are different ways to create the group, like a dynamic security group, which may be filled with user accounts through queries, or a static security group, which must be manually filled with user accounts, can be created. Please note that dynamic group needs Azure AD Premium P1 or P2 license.

Let’s create a membership rule that includes each user within a tenant. The membership of the group is automatically changed in the future as users and B2B guest users if needed are added or withdrawn from the tenant.

Go to Azure portal and select Azure Active Directory

Under Manage, select Groups, and then select New group.

On the Group page, under Group type, select Security. Enter a Group name and Group description for the new group.

Under membership type, select Dynamic User, and add dynamic query. Note that Dynamic group membership updates are expected to be processed for all groups within 24 hours.

We have to go on rule syntax, edit and type: user.objectId -ne null

Instead of entering the above line in the Rule syntax box, add the following expression if you want your group to only contain tenants and exclude visitor users:

(user.objectId -ne null) and (user.userType -eq “Member”)

Dynamic membership rule

The next step is to create a Cloud Policy, we may login to the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center which provides modern management in the cloud for admins who deploy and manage Microsoft 365 Apps, go to as Admin and choose Customization, Policy Management, Create in order to create a new policy for the Loop App in our tenant.

We have to provide a name Policy and a description if needed.

M 365 Policy

In the next phase we have to choose the option: policy configuration applies to users in the specified groups, in the next step add the group that we created before for this scope.

There are more than 2200 policies, we are going to search and enable the policy:  Create and view Loop files in Loop.

Click save and create the policy.

We have to wait a little in order for the policy to be replicated. Let’s test if it works, so go to  and login in with your tenant account

The Loop app solution is now enabled for our organization!

Have fun!
